The Orphan

Sorry for the late update but here is review number 2!

The Orphan:

Not to be confused to be the Video game or the anime with the same name this is a different beast all together. The Story is about a the Colemen family who want a child. The opening is a sequence of Kate Colemen being rushed into the hospital in labor. The sequence is a dream sequence in which her child is stillborn, after this sequence we are introduced to Kate and her Husband John. They already have two kids there deaf daughter Max and the 12 year old son Daniel. The colemen decide that they want another child so the adopt young Esther, who seems to be the perfect child. Well she is not.

Does it work? : No no it doesn't. My plot analysis may seem fragmented and rushed, but thats just how the film ushers it out. The plot is weak. The first time we see Kate in her dream sequence the scene is done in a both corny and disturbing way. We are handed out information about characters in a very matter of fact way, the film basically say " Max is deaf by the way" There first interaction points at this in no way then suddenly Kate starts signing away while basically yelling at her child for playing and having fun. This film is just a waste of 2 hours. Its plot would have maybe held up if it wasn't 2 hours. In the end its a cliched mess that doesn't work as a horror film. It really doesn't work as anything. My review might now seem rushed but honestly i just wanted to forget this movie as soon as possible. Luckly its about as forgetable as the come.

What does this film work as ? : A HORRIFIC MOVIE! 3/10
